nPubPro free Nostr-powered websites

👉 Nostr

Here’s a word combination I never envisaged saying in my lifetime. “nPubPro free Nostr-powered websites”!!! What does that even mean?

Think of nPubPro as a one‑click website builder that turns the posts you already make on Nostr (a decentralized social‑media network) into a personal web page.
You don’t need to write code, install a server, or even remember a fancy username. All you need is the social media app you already use to post on Nostr.

nPub is the bech‑32 encoded form of a user’s public key on Nostr.

Nostr – the open protocol that powers a global, decentralized social‑media network.

RTC@nostraddress.com is my NIP‑05 identifier, a human‑readable name that maps to my npub.

nPubPro is a web‑app that reads the public events (notes, images, video links, etc.) you publish on Nostr and builds a personal website from them.

“Nostr‑powered” is simply a non‑technical way of saying the site gets its data from the open Nostr protocol.

Select the types of content you want to auto appear on your homepage: Notes, photos, vlogs etc

That’s pretty much it.

Setting up a Nostr-powered website – checklist

  • Sign in to nPubPro (just paste your npub or scan the QR code your Nostr client shows).
  • Select a theme – pick the look you like best.
  • Edit a few settings – add a short bio, upload a profile picture, tweak colors.
  • Choose the content types you want to appear automatically on your homepage: notes, photos, videos, etc.
  • Publish – that’s pretty much it. Your site instantly mirrors everything you post on Nostr.

How is it so simple?

Nostr is an open protocol, in other words, the content is labeled the same across every single app. Text is called a note in a social media client and text is a note on an ecommerce site. An nPubPro website can therefore find all the notes published by a single user across the whole Nostr network.

Technically a ‘note’ is referred to as event kind 1. Other event kinds can be used for commerce, polls, etc. Nostr is an open protocol, so the basic text‑based event is called a ‘note’ (event kind 1) in every client. Other specialised events (e‑commerce listings, polls, etc.) use their own event kinds, but the naming stays consistent.

Compare that to collating the posts in FaceBook, Youtube, Reddit etc and displaying them on one webpage, with no effort! Good luck.

The clarity, consistency and simplicity of the code behind the scenes means Nostr can power a completely new decentralised layer of communication apps across the internet. It is so easy, in relative terms, to develop an app.

When walled gardens are demolished, users take their content wherever they want with little to no friction.

In my view, based on personal experience, most users of X or FaceBook put up with awful T&C’s because they are too nervous about leaving. Imagine the time needed having to try and transfer content to a brand new platform – and start again.

That simply is not an issue with Nostr. You own your content, and it feels like it follows you from one app to another, no effort required.

And why would you leave the Nostr eco-system if you can simply reformat all your social media content into an easy-to-follow website at pretty much a click of a button?

Monetisation is easy too. You can set up an ad on a Nostr ecommerce site and the content also appears like magic on your social media timeline. Simple, auto self-promoting your products for sale to your social tribe. (This is completely different to the sort of 3rd-party ads that are forced into your timeline on X etc.)

WordPress meets Nostr

Of course, WordPress is not nostr-native software, but… there are plenty of bridges from this website over to Nostr. Payment buttons, Nostr timeline and embedded posts are all visible on this WP site.

I strongly recommend checking out Nostr. Having lived on the WP side for many years, integrating WP and social media sites like Twitter and embedding YT videos really is a drawn-out business with accounts and passwords for each service. Publish on Nostr, and linking to Nostr social media and embedded videos is a snap.

Plus all your content is safe from overbearing application owners. There is no social media magnate able to unilaterally ban, moderate or delete your content. Everything is hosted on servers distributed around the world. Take one down, another new head appears.

And if you need extreme anonymity online – for instance you are an activist in one of the 70% of nations on earth where free speech is openly legislated against, including the death sentence in some countries – Nostr is your friend too with its cryptographically protected ID.
